Description

Inverter Size

The inverter controls the flow of electricity to and from the batteries.  Economy 7 provides cheap electricity for 7 hours.  To take full advantage of the cheap rate you will need to charge the batteries at that time.  The Energy Bank is fully programmable, so you don’t have to do anything.  See the examples below.

5 kW Inverter will charge a 10 kW battery in 2 hours.

5 kW Inverter will charge a 20 kW battery in 4 hours.

5 kW Inverter will charge a 30 kW battery in 6 hours.  At this stage it may be wiser to install 2 x 5 kW Inverters.

10 kW Inverter will charge a 30 kW battery in 3 hours.

10 kW Inverter will charge a 40 kW battery in 4 hours.

10 kW Inverter will charge a 50 kW battery in 5 hours.

10 kW Inverter will charge a 60 kW battery in 6 hours.  At this stage it may be wiser to install 3 x 5 kW Inverters.

In this Business Installation example the business requires 120 kWh per day.  120 divided by 7 hours charge time = 17.  So you would require 4 x 5 kW inverters or 2 x 10 kW inverters.  If the business runs three phase electricity, you will require a three phase inverter.  Minimum size is 10 kW.  Visit Three Phase Inverter Page.
